Dimitar Karaminkov is one of the most significant participants of Bulgarian musical life for the last thirty years. He was awarded a special prize “The Best Young Conductor of Bulgaria” in 1984. This prize indicates the fast progress and high conductor quality.


After his graduation in Bulgarian State Academy of Music in Sofia, Dimitar Karaminkov has undergone specialization under leadership of Maestro Franco Ferrara in Chigiana Academy – Italy and Alexander Dmitriev in St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. This thorough education built high standards and performing art of Dimitar Karaminkov.


He has been often a guest – conductor in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Rousse, Bourgas Philharmonic Orchestras. His conductor’s art well known in Germany, Italy, Roumania, Slovakia, Ucraine, Turkey, Greece, India, etc. He has recorded with Symphony Orchestra of Bulgarian National Radio as well as Ruosse and Sliven Philharmonic Orchestras.

Dimitar Karaminkov is Music Director & Chief Conductor of Sliven Symphony Orchestra (1994 – present).

He has also experience as Music Director & Chief Conductor of Shoumen Philharmonic Orchestra (1990 – 1993), Antalya Opera / Turkey (2001 – 2002) and Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra – Dobrich (2004 – 2007).


There are a large number of musical works from different ages and styles in his repertoire. He shows an equal facility in conducting Corelli, Vivaldi, Bach as well as Britten, Shostakovich, Stravinsky. Many outstanding musicians and singers from Europe, USA and Japan (like Gena Dimitrova – soprano, Alexandrina Miltcheva – mezzo soprano, Hristina Angelakova – mezzo soprano, Mincho Minchev – violin, Anatoli Krastev – cello, Bojidar Noev – piano, Iovcho Krushev – piano, Jeni Petrova – Piano, Svetla Slavcheva – piano, Nikolay Evrov – piano, Georgi Badev – violin, Bareni Moon – violin, Martin Stantzelait – cello, Jousef Gold – violin, Junko Kobaiashi – piano, Massanobu Ikemia – piano, Roland Degoumois – piano, etc.) have played under his baton.
